Overweight has been shown as a risk factor to cronic-degenerative diseases and metabolic syndrome. The aim of this study was to make a nutritional evaluation of all workers in a nutritional food unit in the Hospital Sociedade Portuguesa de Beneficência de Pelotas/RS. During June to August 2001, all workers, except the nutritionists, were interviewed and nutritionally evaluated by the author of this study. In this study, overweight was found in 36% of the workers, most of them were older women with low education. Thus, one of the strategies that could be put into practice in this situation is to start a nutritional education process for all the workers and to prescribe dietotherapy when it is required.Downloads
