Abstract

In Brazil, tuberculosis is still a very prevalent disease, even more so in the poorest regions and with restricted access to public health. In this study, the epidemiology of tuberculosis in Brazilian territory, the distribution and death rate between the states was analyzed, the differences between these regions and the reasons for these discrepancies were also discussed. In Rio Grande do Sul, the epidemiology of metabolic and behavioral factors that are associated with tuberculosis was studied in depth. Therefore, the incidence of tuberculosis is more related to the development of the region. And, with increased coverage of primary care, developing active search, control and treatment actions for tuberculosis, combined with health education, a favorable scenario for the epidemiological situation of tuberculosis is possible.
