Fibromyalgia (FM) is a polysymptomatic disorder characterized by widespread chronic pain, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and psychiatric comorbidities, especially depression and anxiety. FM leads to an inability to perform daily tasks, negatively affecting the quality of life and psychosocial interactions of affected patients, as well as causing significant social and occupational loss. Among rheumatologic diseases, FM ranks as the third most prevalent, estimated to affect 2.7% of the global population (4). There is currently no specific pharmacological treatment for FM; therefore, seeking therapeutic alternatives is necessary. Thus, this study assessed the efficacy and safety of an extract from Cannabis sativa in 4 FM patients. Two patients received a dose of 5 mg/day of THC/CBD, while the other 2 patients received a dose of 10 mg/day of THC/CBD. In both dosage groups, the patients demonstrated therapeutic benefits, particularly in terms of quality of life, depression, and reduced days missed at work. Furthermore, the treatment proved to be very safe for all patients.
