Old age brings a series of physiological, social and psychological that may be linked together and end up directly influencing the well being of individuals. However, falls can be derived by functional limitation, and this, due to the aging process. Intervention measures are being studied in the scientific community to reverse or minimize this condition being, some of them, physical exercise and the rational use of some medications, making thus extremely important to proper orientation of the elderly both in preventive and rehabilitative in nature. Given the significant proportion that has taken this theme, this study aimed to review the literature regarding the functional capacity and their influence on quality of life for seniors. From this premise, examined articles in major databases currently available, sought to focus on exercise and medications. We conclude, therefore, that aging is gradual and steady, making it necessary to the continued investment of special care and expertise to the elderly, whether by his family as part of health professionals in search of healthy aging with functional capacity, seeking the greatest possible degree of independence and autonomy, making the elderly feel a person healthy and happy despite their limitations.
