Abstract

Objective: to describe the quality of life of patients after acute myocardial infarction before and after the physical therapy intervention program focusing on cardiac rehabilitation through the Mac New questionnaire, in addition to analyzing possible changes in physical capacity. Materrials and methods: non-randomized interventional study with 44 patients after an acute myocardial infarction event before and after the implementation of a physical therapy intervention program, through the application of the quality of life questionnaire. Results: 44 patients with a confirmed diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction were analyzed, all male, with a mean age of 64.25 (+2.217) years. There was a statistically significant difference in the total score between before and after the intervention (p = 0.0195), and also in its domains, except for the social. As for the analysis of physical capacity before and after the intervention, there was no statistically relevant difference. Final considerations: this study concludes that, in the assessment of quality of life, there was an important difference after the physical therapy intervention.
