Abstract

The provision of raw sewage into the soil or in natural bodies receivers such as lakes, rivers, oceans, is an alternative that was and still is employed in very intense. This situation exacerbates the problems of public health and environmental and its improvement depends largely on the development of treatment systems simple, efficient and adaptable to economic conditions and structural cities. The objective was to determine the efficiency of removal of organic matter and turbidez in the domestic sewage using anaerobic filter with filling of bamboo. The filter was fuelled by domestic sewage from a residential building in the city of Pelotas, Brazil. The time of detention was 12 hours, and their average flow rates of 5 ml / min. 7 sample taking were conducted, monitored by the raw and treated sewage. The following parameters had been determined: pH, temperature, turbidez, organic substance, match, total nitrogen Kjeldahl, organic nitrogen and ammoniac nitrogen. The anaerobic filter with bamboo filling presented efficiency of removal of organic substance of 90,30% and 82,37% of removal of turbidez.
