HEALTH DISCOURSES AS A GOVERNAMENT STRATEGY

DIET, PHYSICAL ACTIVITY AND THE ENTREPRENEUR OF THE SELF

Abstract

Based on a Foucauldian perspective, I propose a critical analysis of the discourses on diet and physical activity. The objective was to demonstrate the discursive recurrences in the political sphere that govern human conduct within a neoliberal rationality, making the individual responsible for success or failure about their health. As a result, I focus on governing human conduct within market principles, which encourage healthy choices through self-enterprise, minimizing the context of inequality that exists in our country and the presence of the minimum State for the population.
